If you notice water coming out of the backwash port while the filter is running under normal operation, there may be a problem with the seal in the valve.

Common Leak Causes

• A piece of sediment or debris has lodged in the seal
• The seal may have become damaged
• The seal may have become unseated

If you aren't comfortable with working on the valve, contact the dealer you purchased the Ultima II from for repair information.

Checking the seal

Open the valve by removing the screws around the top.  Lift the valve assembly and visually inspect the seal for any damage.  Make sure the seal is seated properly.  Run your finger along the seal to make sure that no sediment is embedded in it.  Check the surface that the seal presses against in the valve assembly, check to see if any debris is blocking the seal

If the valve still leaks after you have checked the seal, contact the dealer you purchased the Ultima II from for repair information.
